Maryfield celebrated the raising of its second green flag on Thursday 24th November. All students and staff gathered outside for our flag-raising ceremony. Over the past two years the Green Schools Committee along with management, staff, parents and fellow students worked together to reduce the school’s energy output.
Following a number of successful initiatives Maryfield was awarded its flag for energy conservation. One such initiative was a ten-minute power-down which involved turning off all lights and unnecessary electrical equipment, opening blinds and turning down radiators for a ten-minute period at the height of the school day.
Inspectors from An Taisce then visited our school to evaluate our efforts and were very impressed with our commitment to this project.
We would like to thank everybody who helped us to earn this second Green Flag.
