The Global Issues Group in Maryfield was recognized for it’s outstanding work in Global Issues at an award ceremony in Limerick this week. The Global Issues Group led by Ms. Mellon and started initially by the members of the Concern Debate Team have initiated a number of projects within the school including a Global Issues Noticeboard, special assemblies, awareness raising, fundraising and focus groups. Some members of the group participated in the Concern Debates and others attended workshops on taking action to tackle global issues.
It is the first time Maryfield has been recognized for contributing to Global Issues Education in Ireland. Watch this space for more ideas and innovations coming from the group next year.
