Principal’s Welcome/ Fáilte ón bPríomhoide
Founded in 1945 by the Sisters of the Cross and Passion, Maryfield College has been a place of learning, growth, and community for eight decades. Inspired by the educational vision of the Cross and Passion Sisters and their foundress, Sr Elizabeth Prout, our school embraces a holistic approach to education, one that nurtures each student socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually.
As a Cross and Passion school, we are proud to be under the trusteeship of the Le Chéile Schools Trust, which supports and sustains our Catholic ethos. The Le Chéile values of Welcome, Witness, and Wisdom are deeply embedded in our daily life. We strive to be a school where every student feels welcomed and valued, where we acknowledge and value the dignity and uniqueness of each person, and where wisdom is cultivated through reflection, learning, and compassionate action. These values align with our own school’s mission to foster a respectful, inclusive, and caring environment where students are empowered to reach their full potential.
Maryfield College prides itself on being a community of care. We place great importance on developing and nurturing relationships between students and teachers, between school and home, and very importantly between the students themselves. These relationships are the foundation of the safe and supportive atmosphere created in Maryfield College. We believe that when students feel secure and cared for they are in an environment where they can fully thrive and flourish, academically, personally and socially.
As we look to the future, we remain guided by our school motto: In Fide Stabiles – Steadfast in Faith. Our school motto, chosen by the Sisters of the Cross and Passion, reflects who we are. It speaks to the stability we offer our students during their years with us, the steadfast relationships we build between school and home, and the never-ending support our teachers provide. During their time in Maryfield College students are also supported in their faith formation. Students are encouraged to explore and deepen their spiritual lives in a way that is respectful, inclusive, and meaningful. Grounded in Gospel values, we strive to cultivate a community where compassion, justice, service, forgiveness, and hope are lived every day. We aim to instil in our students the confidence to believe in themselves, the resilience to face challenges, and the skills to contribute meaningfully to society, locally, nationally, and globally.
Finally, over the decades, Maryfield College has educated generations of young women from the surrounding areas and beyond. In doing so, we have built a strong and enduring network of families whose ties to the school span generations. These connections are part of our history and they are part of our identity. We honour the legacy of those who have come before, and we welcome those who continue to shape our future.
Warm regards,
Ms Rebecca Carroll Principal/Phríomhoide
