Ms. Keating arranged a trip to the 60th BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS for all 1st years. Students should be praised for their excellent behaviour and a really enjoyable day was had by all. Thanks to the teachers who accompanied her.
The 8th – 16th of November 2015 was Science Week and Ms. Carroll and Ms. Morris accompanied their 2nd Year Science classes to DCU for two interactive science shows.
Ms. Carroll’s class went to see Scientific Susie and her show ‘Dragon Science’ where they learned all about the science behind the stories ‘How to Train a Dragon’.
On 6th May 2015, second year students Julie Dory and Julia Grzelak attended Scifest in the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown with their project “Lightening the Load”, accompanied by the schools Maths and Physics teacher Mrs McCoy.
Both students ended the day with a sense of achievement and say that they have gained much experience and many skills that can be put to use during future projects together. They thoroughly enjoyed the process and would recommend this experience for any student with an interest in Science.
Well done to our twenty senior cycle students who participated in a two day Computer Programming workshop during the October Break. The Computer Programming workshop was hosted by Trinity College Dublin in association with Student2Scientist.The students were also shown around the Physics Dept. of TCD and met with postgraduate students.
To celebrate Science Week 2014 the Science Department published a science question each day for the students to answer. All of the answers were placed in an answer box in the school and each day one correct answer was randomly selected. The winners received prizes the following week.
